Mastering
Mid-side Mastering
Mid-side mastering is about the process of splitting the data that is coming down the centre of the mix, the mid, and the data that has been pushed out to the side of the mix via panning, and processing these differently. The idea is to process the middle of the mix which usually contains your bass, kick and rhythm sections to keep them together and tighten them up and to process the side of the mix to gain stereo width and add spectral processing.

I love adding depth and stereo width to a track and trying to create a thick, together 'wall of sound' noise to a track.
Used assess the dynamic range and loudness of the track.
Oxford dynamics used to compress the mid and the side to 'glue' them together and a limiter to control the signal before being sent to master fader.
High pass filter added to the 'side' channel EQ to cut out all bass frequencies from the edges stereo width of the track.
Mid/Side and spectral analyser for stereo balance.
Bouncing Files / FTP and File Storage
I will always make several different bounces for each track I complete, as there are many different formats in which a track may be used for. I will always make sure there is high quality, 24bit copy for uploading to websites such as Soundcloud. I will also always make a dithered, 16bit bounce for the use of CD's.
Due to lots of files to look after I have invested in protocols to keep all files in check. I have my own portable 1TB hard drive on to which all ProTools/Ableton files are stored, to keep my computer running smoothly and for easy file transfer. As backup storage and online file transfer I have a Dropbox account to which I upload files I am currently working on or have priority for needing to be transferred for ease of access.
