Live Sound Engineering

I have been playing in live bands for a number of years now so, naturally, one of my favourite aspects of sound engineering is live sound and events.

I have began to promote my own gig nights in Aberdeen, named the 'Jamz Bread', organising, engineering and taking live recordings of the evening.

I have worked with local company CLS Aberdeen (Creative Light and Sound) on a number of occasions for rigging and engineering PA systems and lighting rigs for gigs and live events.

I am also currently registered with Aberdeen Stage Crew for live sound events at the AECC Aberdeen.

Jamz Bread

I am currently promoting live events under the promotion name 'Jamz Bread', around Aberdeen setting up and running these events, as well as being sound engineer for the night. It's just the beginning for Jamz Bread and has already been a massive success gaining media attention from local newspapers and musicians. We aim to bring the Jamz Bread around Scotland to promote local bands and DJ's.

Promoting these nights have been great for putting into practice a lot of the skills I have learned about working within the creative industries. With many connections in the local music scene I was able to put on the bands from different areas around Scotland (Glasgow, St Andrews, Peterhead) as well as a veriety of acts including DJ's for an after party event. I now have a good idea of what it takes to put on a great event as well as handling the important aspects such as organisation of the gig, keeping in contact with all clients and the financial aspects of putting on an event.

Contractual Agreements

When running your own event you must be fully organised and have all evidence of agreements documented as back up.

When communicating with venue owners / bands, you must make sure that no one is left out of the loop and everything that is agreed on is solidified by a documented agreement. This usually comes in the form of e-mails between bands and venue owners and I will make sure I am backed up for any chamges that could occur prior to or on the night of the event.

Below is an example of such an agreement;
